Hey Neighbor! is a service for Portland, OR neighborhoods and
communities. Here are some reasons why you will find Hey
Neighbor! a great place to visit and browse awhile.

I like what I see so how do I place my classified listing?
You
can place a FREE 30 day classified listings by simply following
the step-by-step online process ...here is a quick outline.
- Click
on the 'POST AD' link located on the top left of the page.
- Select
the neighborhood, and then the category you would like your
listing to feature in.
- Fill
in the main listing form.
- Add a
web link and/or upload images.
- Decide
if you wish your email address to be visible or not. Hey
Neighbor! requires a email address, as we send you a link
for each listing that enables you to modify, delete or extend
your listing at a later date.
- Review
our 'Terms of Use' (at least glance at them!) then 'Accept'
if you agree.
- When
your all done, click submit.
You will then be sent a validation email. Click on the
link in that email, and then your listing will be published
on the Hey Neighbor! site for all to see. Please keep
this email as it allows you to modify, delete and
extend your listing before the expiry date.

How do I edit or delete my listing?
Remember
that validation email we mentioned, and how you should keep it!
Well it's times like this that you will need it.
Go
and locate that email Hey Neighbor! sent you in your mail application.
There are links in the email that allow you to delete and edit
your listing.
No
luck? come on have you really looked, really?
OK if your really stuck then email us, using the 'lost validation
link' option in the subject line. Try not to make a habit of losing
or deleting the validation email, we're happy to help but remember
this process is a manual one and there are only so many hours in
the day. Thanks.

Why was my listing deleted ?
There
are a couple of reasons this may have happened.
- Your listing
expired., Listings are FREE for 30 days, so if you require
longer exposure, consider paying for a longer term.
- Your
listing has been flagged off the Hey Neighbor! site ....people
browsing thru Hey Neighbor! used the 'Report Abuse link
enough times.
- Your
listing has been brought to the attention of the Hey Neighbor!
team and determined to be outside our 'Terms of Use', and
removed by one of our team.
- Or perhaps
you deleted it yourself!

So is there a limit on how many listings I can have?
Nope,
you may post as many listings as you wish, as long as they are
relevant (and appropriate) to the categories and there are no
repeat listings. i.e the same listing under different categories.
You may, however, have the same listing under different neighborhoods.

My listing has moved from the category I put it in?
Your
listing may have be moved to a more appropriate category.
7.
I haven't received any validation email, what does that mean?
Don't
take it personally we are dealing with technology and sometimes
stuff happens ...here are a couple of things to consider.
- Did you
provide the correct email address, no typos!
- Have
you checked the correct email account.
- Are you
using a free email account (i.e Hotmail, Yahoo, etc), make
sure you haven't exceeded your mailbox storage limit.
- Try checking
your spam folder, something they hide out in there.
- Sometimes
providers (email and ISP's) implement "spam filters" that
maybe badly configured or designed, resulting in email interception.
- Network
problems may also delay email delivery, sometimes for hours
- try checking back later.
No
luck, if you are really stuck then email us, using the 'lost
validation link' option in the subject line.

How do I reply to a classified listing?
The
person who has listed the classified may have added phone numbers
or a web link to the description, so that would be one way to
make contact.
At
the bottom of the listing there may be a 'Contact this user'
form. Fill out the form and 'Send'.
Otherwise it may be a listing that does not require you to make
contact, like an event listing.

Can you provide the contact details of other users?
No,
we cannot do that. We highly respect the privacy of all Hey Neighbor!
users. Please visit our Privacy Policy, this explains how your
information is protected, collected and used by Hey Neighbor!.
10.
Using the Search function ?
Simply
type in your keyword, select a category you wish to search under
and then click 'Go'
To narrow your search to a particular neighborhood, select the
neighborhood from the right-hand column and then complete your
search.
11.
Where is my listing?
Your
listing will take a few moments to appear after your validation
via the email we send you. You may also need to refresh/reload
the page.
Still
can't see it? are you looking under the correct category and
date range?
If you are unable to locate it with a keyword, are you sure that
keyword actually appears in the listing text?
One final possibility: has your listing expired, or perhaps it
has been removed after flagging.
12.
Including Pictures
- Select
'Choose File' under the image options
- Search
your way through your computer's directory and select the
picture file you want to include.
Then OK that.
- Repeat
to add further pictures, maximum of four. Pictures cannot
be larger than 500 kb or they will not upload to our server.
13.
Flagging and Community moderation.
Hey
Neighbor!'s
flagging systems is here to empower our users, to identify inappropriate
listings for speedy removal much more effectively than our team
could ever do. While Hey Neighbor! preserves everyone's right
to unfettered free speech within the law, you can take action
if you feel a listing is inappropriate (including miscategorized,
prohibited, spam, or in breach of Hey Neighbor!'s Terms of Use
by using the flagging system located on the top right of each
listing.
Please
flag with care, misuse of this system will NOT be tolerated and
my result in users be barred for using the Hey Neighbor! site.
If
a listing receives enough negative flags it will automatically
be removed, with an explanatory note sent to the user.
Only one flag per person per post is counted.
If you have any ideas for improving the flagging system and Hey
Neighbor! in
general please use the Contact Form in the About Us section.
Listings that don't meet our 'Terms of Use' may be re-listed or
re-worded if necessary.
14.
How can I post anonymously and still receive responses?
When
submitting your listing, you are asked to provide your email
address.
We
provide three options for you.
- Your
email address appears in your posting just as you typed it
- Your
email isn't shown, as its not required for the listing and
viewers cannot sent you email.
- We anonymize
your email address, then relay responses to your actual email
address via our system ...this way your email address is
NOT published.
